Fortnite Discord server: Creative, tournaments and protecting young members

Build a Fortnite Discord server: channels for Creative and cups, community games as events, fair giveaways and protection against V-Bucks scams.

Fortnite communities are lively, loud and often very young. On a good Fortnite Discord server, members swap Creative codes, team up for duos and squads, play cups together and meet for community games. That exact mix also attracts scammers, though: wherever there are lots of young players, messages about "free V-Bucks", fake giveaways and account sellers show up.

In this guide you build a server that manages both. You set up a clear structure, plan regular community games, make giveaways fair and protect your members with verification, AutoMod and clear rules. For each step you see what Discord brings itself and where Lizbot helps.

A structure that fits Fortnite

Keep the number of channels manageable. Younger members in particular find their way around a short list more easily.

CategoryChannelsPurpose
Start#rules, #verification, #roles, #announcementsgetting started, rules, news
Community#general, #clips, #item-shopchat, highlights, shop talk
Playing#lfg, #creative-codes, #cupsfinding squads, sharing islands, tournaments
Events#community-games, #giveawaysschedules, giveaways
Voice"Create squad", event voiceown rooms, community games
Team#mod-chat, #mod-logteam only

In #creative-codes, members share island codes with a short description. Set a format there, such as "code, island name, mode, number of players", and keep it at the bottom of the channel with a sticky message from the Interaction module. Roles for platform (PC, console, mobile) and mode (Battle Royale, Zero Build, Creative) are handed out through a role menu, as described in the guide Set up Discord roles.

What Discord itself offers for young members

Discord requires a minimum age of 13, and in some countries the limit is higher. In your server settings you'll find the verification level (for example a verified email or a minimum time as a Discord member), the explicit media content filter and the built-in AutoMod. Set the content filter so it scans media from all members.

Discord doesn't see what happens on your server, though. A Fortnite server with lots of teenagers therefore needs a clear concept: what's allowed, how members report something and how your team reacts. The guide on youth protection on Discord explains this in detail.

1. Set up verification

Verification keeps throwaway accounts and spam bots out before they can message your members. In the dashboard, turn on verification, choose the role members get afterwards, and pick a method:

  • Button in Discord (one click): ideal for most servers.
  • Web page with captcha: stronger if bot waves show up on your server regularly.

For Fortnite servers, the Minimum account age matters. Set it to a few days, and freshly created second accounts can't reach your members right away. Under AutoMod in the Alt accounts tab, Lizbot also rates every join with a risk score. All steps are in the guide Set up Discord verification. Verification and alt account detection are included in the Free plan.

2. AutoMod against V-Bucks scams

The typical scams on Fortnite servers are always similar: "V-Bucks generator", "free skins, just log in", fake giveaways by DM and offers to buy or sell accounts. There's almost always a link behind it that's after login details.

Here's how to set up protection:

  • Phishing protection: in the dashboard under AutoMod, Phishing tab, switch Phishing and scam links to active and leave Use public scam lists on. Lizbot then checks every link against lists of known scam domains.
  • Word filter: add terms such as free vbucks, v-bucks generator or selling account. With * as a wildcard you also catch variants.
  • Invite links: block invites to other servers so nobody lures your members onto scam servers.
  • Mass mentions: stops spammers who ping lots of members at once.

From Pro on there's also the AI scam shield, which also detects new scams that aren't on any list yet. More examples and steps are in the guide Spot Discord scams.

Also tell your members clearly, once: your team never gives anything away by DM and never asks for passwords or login codes. That belongs in #rules and in the welcome message.

3. Plan community games and cups as events

Regular dates turn a chat into a community. Typical formats on Fortnite servers:

  • Community game in Creative: everyone meets on one island, for example for box fights or zone wars. You put the island code in the event description.
  • Playing cups together: you team up in duos and trios for the official tournaments and talk through the matches afterwards.
  • Your own small tournaments: with fixed teams, points and an award ceremony.

Create these dates in the Events module: title, description, date, start and end, the channel for the event message and optionally a voice channel. With Limit participants you match the spots to the lobby. Members sign up with a button, and Lizbot reminds them by DM before it starts. With Also create a Discord event, the date also appears at the top of the channel list. Moderators can create events directly with /community event create as well.

From Pro on, an event can repeat every week if you like, full events get a Waitlist when full, and with the Role for participants you open the event voice channel only to those signed up. More in the guide Create a Discord event.

4. Run fair and safe giveaways

Giveaways are popular on Fortnite servers, but they're also a gateway for fraud. With Lizbot you start them in the dashboard or with /server giveaway start: prize, duration, number of winners (up to 20) and optionally Only for role.

  • Use the role from verification as a requirement. That way throwaway accounts can't take part.
  • Write in the description how the winner gets in touch, for example by ticket within 48 hours.
  • Don't give away anything that breaks Epic Games' rules, so no accounts.

With members under 18, it's better to hand over the prize through their parents or to go for server prizes such as a special role. All giveaway features are included in the Free plan. The guide Create a Discord giveaway describes the full process.

Practical tips

  • Squads with their own rooms: with temporary voice channels and a limit of 4, every squad has its own voice channel.
  • No account trading: explicitly ban buying, selling and sharing accounts in your rules.
  • Make reporting visible: members report problems with /report. Write in #rules that nobody gets in trouble for reporting something.
  • Team with fixed hours: especially in the evening and at weekends, someone from the team should be online.

FAQ

Can Lizbot stop scam DMs to my members?

No. No bot can see direct messages between members. Lizbot protects your server's channels. Against DM scams, education, verification with a minimum account age and the Discord setting that turns off DMs from server members help.

From what age can members join my Fortnite server?

Discord requires at least 13, more in some countries. You can't reliably check age. So design the server to be safe for everyone 13 and up.

Does scam protection cost anything?

No. Phishing protection with scam lists, word filter, invite filter, verification and alt account detection are included in the Free plan. The AI scam shield requires Pro. More on the Verification page.

How do I stop the same person entering a giveaway several times?

Each account can only enter once. Against second accounts, the verification role as a requirement, a minimum account age and a look at suspicious joins under Alt accounts help.
