Create a Valorant Discord server: rank roles, teams and scrims

Build a Valorant Discord server: self-assigned rank and agent roles, LFG, teams with scrims and map details, customs and community nights.

A Valorant Discord server stands or falls with one question: can I quickly find four people here who fit me? Anyone who wants to play ranked in the evening needs teammates at a similar rank, ideally with a controller and an initiator on the team. At the same time, many communities want more than LFG: their own team for Premier or small tournaments, regular scrims and custom nights with ten people.

In this guide you build a clear structure for that: channels that don't feel empty, self-assigned rank and agent roles, an organized LFG channel, a team with events and map details, and regular community nights. For each step you see what Discord can do itself and what Lizbot takes off your hands.

Which channels a Valorant server needs

Start small. Ten empty channels look deader than three active ones. A proven start:

CategoryChannelsPurpose
Start#rules, #roles, #announcementsrules, role menus, news
Community#general, #clips, #agents-and-metachat, highlights, line-ups
Teammates#lfg, #customsfinding groups, custom nights
Team#team-schedule, #team-chatscrims, strategy, team only
Voice"Create room", team voiceown rooms, matches

To get started, Discord itself is enough: with Onboarding you can ask new members about their rank or region when they join and show them the matching channels. For roles people can change at any time, a role menu is more practical.

1. Create rank and agent roles

In your server settings under Roles, create three groups, without any permissions:

  • Rank: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Ascendant, Immortal and Radiant. Give them colors if the rank should be visible on the name.
  • Agent role: Duelist, Initiator, Sentinel and Controller, plus maybe "Flex". Allow everyone to mention these roles so people can ping a controller directly.
  • Region or play time: for example EU and "evenings" or "weekends", if your community needs it.

How hierarchy and permissions work together is explained in the guide Set up Discord roles.

2. Post role menus with Lizbot

So members can pick their roles themselves, create one menu per group in the dashboard under Modules in the Role menus module. Choose the #roles channel, buttons or dropdown, and add the roles with label and emoji. A menu holds up to 25 roles.

  • Rank: turn on Only one role at a time. After a rank-up, one click swaps the old rank role.
  • Agent role: better leave it off here. Many people play two roles and want to be pinged for both.

With Required role, only verified members can use the menus. The Free plan includes five role menus, Pro and up as many as you like.

Important: Lizbot doesn't read ranks from the game. Rank roles are based on honesty. If rank matters, for example for a team, ask for the Riot ID and check it yourself.

3. Welcome new members

A good welcome sends new people straight to where things happen. In the Welcome module, create a message with placeholders such as {user.mention} and point to #roles and #lfg. With Autoroles, everyone gets a base role when they join. How to design the message is covered in the guide on the welcome message.

4. Organize LFG

#lfg only works with a fixed format. Pin it:

Mode, rank, agent role wanted, time, voice yes or no Example: ranked, Gold 2, looking for controller and initiator, from 8 pm, voice yes

With a sticky message from the Interaction module, the format always stays at the bottom of the channel. With Auto-threads, Lizbot opens a thread for every request, and the details are sorted out there. For the group itself, temporary voice channels are worth it: a creator channel "Five-stack lobby" with a limit of 5 in the Voice rooms module, and every group gets its own room that disappears again. With /voice lock, a full group stays private.

5. Run a team with scrims and map details

If your community plays Premier or small tournaments, create a team in the Esports module: game, team role, captain and coach roles and an events channel. In the roster, every player gets a position, such as controller or IGL, and a status such as active, trial or pause. Substitutes are marked as such.

Captains and coaches create events directly in Discord with /community team event: choose the type Scrim, the date (for example "tomorrow") and the time, and optionally the opponent and the map, such as Ascent.

The types are scrim, practice, match and VOD review, plus optional opponent, map and mode. Players respond with the buttons In, Maybe or Out, and the message shows live whether the lineup is complete. After the match you enter the result, optionally with maps, such as Ascent 13:9, Bind 10:13. With /community team roster and /community team events, anyone can see the team and the next events.

The Free plan includes one team with events, responses and results. With Pro you run up to five teams and get DM reminders, a weekly availability poll and stats with win rate and map record. Studio removes the team limit. More in the guide Esports team on Discord.

6. Plan customs and community nights

Custom games with ten people are the best reason for members to stay on your server. Create them in the Events module: title, description, date, start, end, a channel for the event message and optionally a voice channel. With Limit participants set to 10, everyone sees how many spots are left. Members sign up with a button, and Lizbot reminds them by DM before it starts. With Also create a Discord event, the night also appears at the top of the channel list.

Pro adds a Waitlist when full, a Role for participants that lets you open the custom voice channels only to those taking part, weekly repeats and up to three reminders. How to plan events in general is covered in the guide Create a Discord event.

Practical tips

  • Two voice channels for customs: attackers and defenders, plus a lobby for picking teams.
  • Clips channel with rules: only your own clips, no videos that expose teammates.
  • Clear rules against flaming: write down specifically what isn't allowed, such as blaming or mocking someone's rank. The guide Write server rules has a template. You set up AutoMod with a word filter in the guide Set up Discord AutoMod.
  • Lizbot's role high enough: it has to sit above all rank, agent and team roles.

FAQ

Can Lizbot assign Valorant ranks automatically?

No. Lizbot doesn't read game data. Members pick their rank role themselves through a role menu. If rank matters, your team checks it via the Riot ID.

How many role menus do I need?

Usually three: rank, agent role and region or notifications. The Free plan includes five, Pro and up as many as you like.

Do I need Pro for a team?

Not for one team. Roster, events with map and opponent, responses and results are included in the Free plan. Several teams, DM reminders, the weekly poll and stats come with Pro. More on the Esports page.

Who can create team events?

Members with the team's captain or coach role, and admins. Everyone else sees the roster and events and responds.
